Gap score, page types, Reddit, YouTube and G2

01

A gap score for every site

From 0 to 100: high when a site is used in many answers, skips you, and names your competitors. Sort by it and your outreach list writes itself.

02

Domains, pages and page types

Each domain and each URL with its share of answers, its citations and its type: comparison, listicle, review, article, forum, video, docs, product page or homepage.

03

Reddit, YouTube and G2 tabs

The threads, videos and review pages assistants cite get their own tabs, because each one calls for a different, honest way to show up.

The sources table

Every column, and what it tells you

One row per cited domain, for the prompts, period and assistants you filter on. The example below follows one site in Brightloop's workspace: an agency tools roundup, over 100 answers.

Type
Who the site belongs to: You, Competitor, UGC (Reddit, forums), Review (G2 and similar), Editorial, Reference, Institutional, Corporate and more.
Editorial: a media site that publishes roundups
Used
The share of answers that cite the site at least once. It's the best measure of how much a source shapes the answers.
34%: cited in 34 of the 100 answers
Citations
How many times the site is cited in total, and per answer. More than one per answer means assistants lean on several of its pages.
51 citations, 1.5 per answer
Without you
The answers that cite the site and don't name you. This is the gap, counted in answers.
34 of 34: no answer citing it names Brightloop
Gap score
From 0 to 100, how much the site costs you: used often, skips you, names competitors. Explained below.
85
Competitors
The logos of the competitors named in the answers that cite the site, most frequent first.
Taskhive, Planwise, Orbitask
Assistants
The assistants that cite it. Some lean on a site that others never use.
Perplexity, Google AI Overviews, ChatGPT

Gap score

How the gap score works, in plain words

The gap score multiplies three things, so a site only scores high when all three are true. It runs from 0 to 100, and your own site always scores 0.

01

Used often

Answers citing the site, compared with the most used site in your list (1 for the top one).

02

Skips you

The share of those answers that don't name you (1 when none of them do).

03

Names competitors

How many competitors those answers name, counted up to 3 (3 or more counts as 1).

× 100 = gap score

The most used source here is the onboarding guide, in 40 answers. The roundup is in 34: 34 ÷ 40 = 0.85. All 34 skip Brightloop: × 1. They name 3 competitors: × 1. So 0.85 × 1 × 1 × 100 = 85. The guide is used more, but it names no competitor, so it scores 0: it's not where the shortlist is decided.

Page types

Ten page types, because each one calls for a different fix

The Pages tab lists every cited URL with its page type, Used, Without you and citations, sortable by any column. The type tells you what kind of content assistants reach for in your category.

Listicle

A "best X for Y" or "top 10" roundup.

Roundups often decide the shortlist. Being on them is usually the biggest win.

Comparison

A head-to-head page, "X vs Y", often written by a competitor.

If competitors write the comparisons, they frame the choice. Publish your own, fairly.

Review

A review platform page: a G2 category, profile, comparison or alternatives page.

Independent opinions weigh heavily on "is X good" and "best X" prompts.

Forum

A Reddit thread or a community discussion.

Real experience in buyers' own words. Assistants reuse it for recommendation prompts.

Video

A YouTube review, comparison or walkthrough.

Shows assistants trust demos for this topic: a format worth producing.

Article

A guide, a news piece or a blog post.

Informational answers lean on these. Cover the topic better, or contribute to it.

Docs

Documentation, yours, a competitor's or an integration's.

Assistants quote docs for "how to" and "does X do Y". Wrong or missing facts show up in answers.

Product

A product, feature or pricing page.

Where assistants get prices and features. Make sure yours state them clearly.

Homepage

A site's homepage.

Often a competitor's: a sign that assistants take its positioning at face value.

Other

Anything that fits none of the above.

Open it: it can reveal a source you didn't know about.

Every number opens onto the answers that produced it, so you can check a gap before acting on it.

Gaps only

One switch keeps only third-party sites that appear in answers without you. Your own site and your competitors' sites drop out, and what's left is your to-do list.

Playbook

How to act on each page type

Sort by gap score, look at the page type, then pick the honest fix. The last column is the Content studio format that gets you started.

  1. Listicle

A roundup decides the shortlist without you.

Get included: send the author a short, factual pitch with your use case, price and a test account. Don't ask for a rank.

    Brief for the pitch
  2. Comparison

Someone else frames the choice, often a competitor.

Publish your own fair comparison, with a table and when each option fits better.

    Comparison page
  3. Forum

A thread where buyers ask for advice.

Post a helpful reply from an identified account, with your affiliation disclosed, if the subreddit allows it.

    Reddit post or reply
  4. Review

A review page that lists competitors and not you.

Ask real customers for honest reviews. Never write, buy or filter them.

    Review request campaign
  5. Video

Assistants rely on a video for this topic.

Make your own walkthrough, or send the creator accurate facts and access.

    YouTube script
  6. Docs, reference

Facts about you or your category come from docs.

Fix the facts: make your docs and reference pages answer the question clearly and accurately.

    FAQ page
  7. Article

A guide covers the topic without you.

Cover it better on your site, or offer the author a correction or expert input.

Step by step

How it works

  1. 01

    Collect the sources

Each run keeps every link the assistants cited, in order, with the answer around it.

  2. 02

    Score the gaps

Citegram groups links by domain and page, labels the page type and computes a gap score for each site.

  3. 03

    Act on the top gaps

Pitch the sites, join the threads honestly, ask customers for reviews, or turn a gap into a brief in Content studio.

FAQ

Frequently askedquestions.

How is the gap score calculated?

It runs from 0 to 100 and goes up when a site is used in many answers, when those answers don't name you, and when they name your competitors. A high score means a source that shapes answers without you.

What's the difference with citation tracking?

Citation tracking shows which domains are cited and where you're missing. Source analytics adds the gap score, page types, a detail page per domain and per URL, and dedicated Reddit, YouTube and G2 tabs.

Is source analytics on the free plan?

The free plan shows the top 2 cited sources. Pro, at $19 a month, unlocks every cited source and page, the gap score, the detail pages and the Reddit, YouTube and G2 tabs.

Which assistants does it cover?

All 9 on Pro: ChatGPT, Gemini, Perplexity, Claude, Grok, Mistral, Copilot, Google AI Overviews and Google AI Mode. Some cite many links, some cite few, so the mix of sources differs by assistant.
